Nottingham OGC TC Meetings, Tuesday 15 Setp. 2015, 10:15-12:00 (Rm De La Beche)

The meeting was opened at 10:15 by the chair of the MLS DWG Giuseppe Conti with Ki-Joune Li (as co-chair) connected via GoToMeeting.

The meeting was opened by Giuseppe Conti who introduced the overall progress of the activities of the MLS, including cooperation with In-Location Alliance (ILA). Ian Blair (Qualcomm) then proceeded with the presentation of the ILA architecture. A short discussion followed regarding the overall approach followed in the definition of the architecture (mobile vs server centric). Further questions were made regarding the availability of a reference implementation. Giuseppe Conti highlighted that a possible starting point could be i-locate, which follows a similar dual approach (mobile and server centric), and which provides support for IndoorGML being the first reference implementation of the standard. Giuseppe Conti noted that future release of IndoorGML should seek comments from ILA whose members have a different (more hardware-oriented) standpoint. An action may be called by the chair of IndoorGML SWG, Ki-Joune Li.

Leonardo Plotegher (Trilogis) then presented an indoor location solution specifically developed for tracking of patients suffering from Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia. The solution, which uses off-the-shelf Kinect2 sensors, is now being piloted in a very large house for the elderly in order to detect potential hazardous conditions (e.g. patients starting wandering or falling).

A further presentation, given via GoToMeeting by Nicola Dorigatti (Trilogis) illustrated the IndoorGML plug-in for JOSM (the popular open source software used by the OpenStreetMap community). The presentation illustrated how it is possible, through the plug-in, to author indoor graphs (representing connectivity of indoor spaces) in a very visual way, yet ensuring support for IndoorGML.

Following, Christine Perey (PEREY research and consultancy) gave two presentation on Mixed and Augmented Reality Reference Model and on a wide range of activities in support of open and interoperable Augmented Reality solutions.

Following, a short presentation was given by Ki-Joune Li (PNU) on use of IndoorGML for visually impaired users. The presentation illustrated the content of a discussion paper, posted by Ki-Joune Li, titled "use-case for "MLS with IndoorGML – Indoor Navigation Maps for Visually Impaired People". The paper had been posted on the pending document section of the OGC portal respecting the 3-week rule before the TC, the following motion by Ki-Joune Li, seconded by Giuseppe Conti to approve the release of OGC 15-075r1 was passed with unanimous consent.

A final discussion on defition of use cases of relevance for the DWG, followed. A call will be prepared by the co-chair of the MLS involving ILA and OGC membership at TC level, with the idea of presenting a first shortlist at the next TC. Ian Blair recommended to contact Fabio Malabocchia, in charge for definition of ILA use cases, to explore synergies regarding use cases analysis while Ian Blair and Andreas Wachter remain the points of contact for technical/architectural issues.

The meeting was closed at 12.05.
