Welcome to the Ideas4OGC Wiki

The OGC wants to improve.

This "Ideas for OGC" (Ideas4OGC) Effort is collecting feedback, developing that feedback into a report which will be presented to the OGC Membership, OGC Officers, and OGC Staff, and hopefully leading to actions to improve the organization. The first set of proposal, covering candidate reccomendations for 12 priority areas were presented to the September Board of Directors and TC/PC meetings.

The Ideas4OGCEffort page describes the effort in more detail, including the objective, guiding principles, and process.

The Ideas4OGCMeetings page lists the meetings which were held to announce the effort and collect feedback from OGC Members and from the public.

The LeaderShip page lists the members of the team working on this effort and the meetings held by that group.

Initial Recommendations (October 2013)

Formally kicked off on June 20th, 2013, the Ideas for OGC (Ideas4OGC) process has collected a broad set of comments, recommendations and constructive criticism from across the membership, the public and OGC staff. The Initial Recommendations developed by the Leadship Group represent results from reviewing the intial top 10 priorities, as identifed through the process. A second round to address the next set of topics will begin in November, 2013.

Topics

This table contains issues and discussions/suggestions collected via the Ideas 4 OGC process. The links in the issue section map to greater levels of detail, whereas the links in the discussion section either map to additional mentions from different commentators, or contain links to references on the OGC website. As comments continue to be contributed, this table will be updated to reflect new content. New comments are welcome, as is an indication of your interest/agreement to the issues collected to date.

Many of the topics are overlapping or are at different 'levels' or scopes, such as technologies, processes and organisational structures. Similarly, many of the individual comments may have already been used for several topics. It is probably not possible to definitively structure the comments and topics, but they are all being discussed.

The table was built so that each topic could have its own page (or page section) to allow detailed discussion. The table was built from an initial set of topics collected by Carl Reed, as well as from topics derived from email messages, from pages on this wiki site, and from feedback obtained during meetings. Note that this table is held in its own page so that it can be included in several other different pages.
