MetOcean -WCS New Orleans Specathon

This page documents the MetOcean -WCS Specathon at New Orleans, US. -- PeterBaumann - 12 May 2013

Logistics

  • Purpose: to establish a first version of specification and schema
  • Venue: NASA Stennis Center, Stennis, New Orleans, US
  • Date: June 25 - 27, 2013 (all day)
  • Organization: Peter Baumann (facilitator), Roy Ladner (local host)
  • Important:
    • for non-US citizens: in order to participate physically you need to
      • fill in this visitor form and mail it to Roy Ladner by May 22 at the latest
      • inform your country's US embassy of your visit to NASA's STENNIS facility. The best thing may well be for you to actually ring your embassy in the US and see is there is a form you can fill in. (NASA Stennis will contact your US embassy to make sure that your visit is registered with them. That way they can cross check your identity.) -- PS: Navy.mil says: ''The Foreign Visit System is the Security Policy Automation Network (SPAN). People who wish to attend the workshop should contact their embassy in Washington D.C. to ensure that they are listed in this Foreign Visit System.''
      • note that entry of your visit in SPAN by your embassy is required in order for your visit request to be approved by NASA
    • telecon: dial +1 512 225 3650 passcode:895514#
    • webex: (under investigation)

Issues

  • Issue: What should the short name of the "WCS Application Profile Meteorology/Oceanography" be?
  • Description: Various nicknames are under discussion.
  • Alternatives:
  • Discussion:
    • Raj Singh: Could you simply call it MO-WCS instead of MetOc -WCS? That would do nicer with EO-WCS.
    • Marie-Francoise Voidrot: I also prefer MO or Met Ocean as MetOc is very "military" connotated in our domain
  • Decision: - open -

Meeting Minutes

Actions
