Welcome to the CDBswg web

  • The final vote of the OGC Planning Committee for adoption of OGC CDB 1.0 passed on September 23 at the 100th OGC TC/PC meetings in Orlando; the new official OGC CDB 1.0 standard will be publicly announced by the OGC when the documents and metadata have been integrated into the public OGC standards repository.

  • The next meeting of the CDB SWG will be an online meeting on Friday, January 20 starting at 11:00 EDT.

This linked document represents the final list and resolution of comments received during the public Request for Comment Period:

A perspective of the OGC CDB 2.0

  • These slides which presented in the "98th OGC Technical Committee, Washington, DC USA, 2016", describe the perspective for OGC CDB 2.0 and interoperability between OGC CDB and Baseline Standards such as CityGML, GeoPackage, OWS and other OGC standards.
  • These slides also specifically discuss the tradeoffs in using the currently specified Shapefile format or updating to using OGC GEOPackage format for storing vector information in CDB.

Alternate/Multiple Feature Data Dictionary in the OGC CDB 1.0

  • These slides presented in the "96th OGC Technical Committee, Nottingham, UK, 2015", describe the methods for extending the existing CDB specification to provide for alternate/multiple feature data dictionaries that are possible now with the existing technical content in the OGC CDB 1.0 candidate standard.

Industry-developed recommendations for Update 1 to CDB V3.2

The legacy 'CDB-board', consisting of CAE, Presagis, and FSI, has made recommendations for an Update 1 to CDB V3.2. The Industry-developed V3.2 of the CDB specification is the technical baseline for the OGC CDB 1.0 candidate standards documents that were made available for review in the public Request for Comment period (now closed). This industry recommended Update 1 was converted to Request for Comment (RFC) submissions during the formal public comment period, and were subsequently adopted into the OGC CDB 1.0 candidate standard baseline. Here's the description of the recommended Update 1:

For potential developers, this link leads to a distribution package of the CAE/Presagis/FSI recommended Update 1 to CDB V3.2, as it likely would have been released by the industry-led team prior to the decision to submit the CDB work to the OGC for the development and maintenance of the standard..
